When I was a child, my mum was the creative force around me
encouraging me to engage in arts and crafts.
Every holiday would be archived
and documented;
leaves would be cellotaped and flowers would be pressed and then hand-drawn.
It became a way of being, a way of connecting with the world around me.
My grandad and I would create “home videos” using his digital camcorder
which have now become my most treasured videos.
I want to extend the creative joy discovered within my own childhood
by bringing this into other people’s lives.
In my third decade of life,
I stayed true to my dream.
I am a professional actress
and multi-disciplinery artist
working in film and theatre (I recently had my debut leading role
in a full-length feature film and a one-woman-show that toured the UK).
I write about my own ongoing creative process here.
I mentor postgraduate students at University of Cambridge
on the Creative Writing and Writing for Performance MSt.
By providing creative consultancy,
artistic influence and mentorship (for children, adults and elderly),
I have realised that an important part of my creative process is helping others to
(re)connect with their own artistic nature
and bring about more creative joy, self-expression and meaningful moments.
